I’m not sure how this is a common perception for stack overflow. I predominantly answer questions tagged #pandas and have almost never seen any negativity. In fact, nearly all the most popular answerers are extremely nice. Way, way nicer than me. Lots of encouragement and congratulatory posts. Its actually one of the most positive places on the internet. This is my experience from answering about 400 questions.
