Thank you for the response, Tim. It would be interesting to see how many “Thank you” responses had an assumed male as the response. Also, its possible that a ‘Thanks, man’ is indeed accurate if the person receiving the thanks is male, correct?

I don’t think the outrage is from statements like these, or at least it isn’t what I have seen.

Your arguing a straw man for most of what you wrote. All I am challenging is the claim that Stack Overflow is toxic. For me, a toxic place on the internet is something like YouTube comments. I am not saying there are not any other problems with Stack Overflow. I am not denying anyone’s experience. I am not denying that its likely an easier place for men to participate in.

April isn’t saying you have a problem, she's saying you are toxic. There is a big difference. There is a spectrum of words we can use to describe the issues on Stack Overflow, and toxic is not the correct choice.

The only thing I would like to know and please answer yes or no. Is Stack Overflow a toxic wasteland?
